Custom Contextual Advertising

March 26th, 2010

Its probably safe to say by now that contextual advertising is an extremely powerful tool in any Internet marketing strategy. The most well know company to provide contextually matched ads is Google. Entire businesses rely on Google’s ability to match ads with related search results and content.

Unfortunately, you’re stuck with the rules and limitations that Google and other alternatives have. What if you want to link directly to affiliate programs of your choice? Maybe you just need a little more control to add an extra line of text to describe your offer, or more freedom with the look and feel. How about a complex advertisement with title, video, text, and link all in one? Or, maybe you just want an automatic way to identify key-phrases in your content and turn them into embedded affiliate links to Clickbank products.

All these problems and more are why I created uContext. The uContext contextual engine was designed to deliver ads, links, and HTML content of ANY design and origin into or next to the content on your web pages. uContext makes no assumptions about your website, and makes no more rules than is necessary to provide quality results to you. This is contextual advertising your way.

uContext is now offering free trial memberships with full access to all the contextual advertising and content delivery features. We provide plug-ins for WordPress, Drupal, and Joomla so you can get results in a matter of minutes. We even have a generic PHP library for custom CMS integration.

uContext Beta Testers Wanted

March 16th, 2010

We know that contextually targeted advertising has higher click through rates and are more likely to land a sale. We also know that links embedded in the content of your website have higher click rates than traditional blocks of advertising and links in the sidebars. In most cases, the technology that provides quality contextual matching is technically challenging. And, all the services that provide contextual delivery are restricted to their are own ad networks, which means you have little customization or the ability to upload your own ads and content.

I’ve created my new service uContext.com to make delivering contextual ads, content, and links easier and more accurate without making assumptions about how you should use it and where. You can mass upload ads, content, and URLs of your choice to be contextually delivered to your website pages. You can also turn on the In-Text feature for affiliate links to contextually matching Clickbank products.

I’ve had the contextual engine running for a little more than 2 months on a couple of my own content sites. A lot of refinement in contextual matching and delivery speed has already been made. I don’t expect any major issues with the system at this advanced point in development. And, I’ve taken special steps to make sure that any issues uncovered on the server-side don’t trickle down to customer websites. And, in the worst case scenario, the service is very easy and quick to disable.

What I’d like from beta testers is a fresh look at how uContext.com works using their own medium-to-large content websites. I need help smoothing out the possible kinks that I probably can’t see because of my familiarity with the system. I’m also looking for a sanity check on the current features, and any suggestions on features to make the service better and/or easier.

Integration into your website is easy. I have plug-ins for WordPress, Drupal, and Joomla. I also have a generic PHP library you can use in custom implementations. Help documentation is available, and I’m working on additional screencasts.
